I did, however, find three Wolcott familes listed: John Wolcot of Kilton taxed 3 shillings for land worth 8L, John Wolcott of Stogumber, taxed 4 pence for wages worth 20 shillings 6 pence; and John Wolcot of Monksilver, taxed 4 pence for wages worth 20 shillings. (11) Elizabeth, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Woolcott b. (11) Mary, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Woolcott b. (11) Joseph, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Woolcott b. 1832 Spaxton; laborer at Spaxton, Somerset, a parish that now includes the nearby villages of Aisholt and Charlinch; m. Richard Woolcott was a churchwarden at Holford in 1640; m. (6) James Wolcott, c.1630-1700 of Shearstone Farm in North Petherton left bequest of 5L per life to his daughter, Elizabeth. In 1621, Henry Woolcott of Holford and Holford Carsley paid a tax or fee of 40s on property located in the parish of Tolland. Margaret Wolcott is also mentioned in another deposition taken in 1572, given in Somerset & Dorset Notes & Queries. 1748 Dunster; Isaac Woolcott of Heathfield apprenticed 1731 to Francis Luttrell of Venn, who died 1733.
The 1524/5 Somerset tax roll has never been published. (12) Theresa Amelia, daughter of Betty Woolcot, "base born" 1834-1837 Charlinch. 1838 Charlinch, with mother at Spaxton 1841, servant in Warwickshire 1871. 1841 Charlinch, with mother at Spaxton 1841, laborer at Fiddington 1861, at Brighton 1871-1881 with wife, Ann, and children. The only Wolcott on the Heathfield tax roll in 1671 was a Joan Wollcott, who may have been Richard's widow.(4) Richard Wolcott, c.1580-c.1645. 1667 North Petherton; on tax roll 1733: James Woolcott of Shearstone, very old; m. Henry must have taken possession of this land in 1599 when he came of age. Another similar combat, based on the same quarrel, occurred in 1572. (9) Abraham, son of Isaac Woolcott, 1746-1746 Dunster. Barrington, Hancock, Hinsdale, Lanesborough, Lee, Lenox, Monterey, Mt. Marlborough, North Adams, Otis, Peru, Pittsfield, Richmond, Sandisfield, Savoy, Sheffield, Southfield, Stockbridge, Tyringham, Washington, W.
